The Main Market is the LSE's flagship market, regulated by the UK Listing Authority (UKLA). A company can list on the Main Market in either the Premium segment or the Standard segment, each with different regulatory standards.

London Stock Market

A company with a premium listing is expected to meet the UK’s highest standards of regulation and corporate governance. A standard listing allows companies to access the Main Market by meeting EU harmonised standards only.

Why list on the LSE Main Market?

  • London is one of the most influential financial centres in the world, a cosmopolitan city with a strong  regulatory, business and political framework that supports its financial markets
  • Raises your company’s profile which can increase demand for your shares and improve liquidity
  • Some investors are more comfortable investing in a business listed on the Main Market as they consider it a more secure opportunity
  • The majority of all IPOs on a Western European exchange take place in London
